This Post

This post was going to be about bluebells. About the floating market we have moored up outside the back gate this weekend. About all sorts of nonsense I have going on in my craft basket. But instead it's something that has stopped me in my tracks.

After a long battle with cancer a dear colleague passed away yesterday afternoon. She was only two years older than myself and had daughters of a similar age. I don't wish to say much more other than it has made me stop and appreciate how fortunate I am.

This post is for Tracy.

  1. Oh Jane, I'm so sorry to hear about your colleague and friend. Cancer is a beast and has stolen so many beautiful loved ones, both young and old, and it's never an easy thing to see them go. An untimely death always makes us stop and appreciate even the littlest things though. Take care, Wendy xox

  3. So sorry to hear this Jane, yes bastard cancer has that effect on you. One of my colleagues passed away away in April after a very brief battle with it...only 59 and ten days ago I lost an elderly friend, who lingered on in the most terrible way. Also my mum has been gone three years tomorrow, so that ******* disease is on my mind more than usual. All we can do is remember them and the good times, talk about them and keep them in our hearts, remember how fortunate we are and live our lives.

  5. As Dorothy has said, all words are inadequate, yet somehow we feel the need to say something - to offer that emotional support- to just 'be with you' at this very sad time. With sincere good wishes, Lynnexxx
