Secret Squirrels

Things seem to be waking up this week. We've had a few days of warmth - not quite t shirt and shorts weather - but that gentle warmth that tells us that the seasons are changing. There's something so magical about the first flowers - still few and far between but presenting us with colours that seem to have been absent  for an age.

And as for the daffy down dillies - not enough to admire in the garden as yet but plenty of shop bought ones to fill vases around the house. The gentle wafts of fragrance immediately transport me to warmer days.

But what's that got to do with secret squirrels? Well the answer to that is - I CAN'T TELL YOU !

I've been busying myself this week with a couple of projects that can not be revealed as yet.

The first involves this beautiful box of pearl cotton - gifted to me by a friend who knows exactly what makes me tick!

Want to see inside?

Jewel bright colours in the softest cotton.

Perfect for a little bit of this!

But - no more of that just yet - it's a secret!

And as for the other.

Well I can't quite believe it but I'm actually moseying on up to my 100th post. When I first pressed that publish button over a year ago I had no idea what a journey I was about to begin. The friendship and support has been wonderful and something that I would like to acknowledge formally. Oh yes - I'm going to have a GIVEAWAAAAAAAY!

Want a  little peek?

Woohoo - can't wait to reveal all!

Meanwhile I hope you are all able to enjoy a little bit of Spring this weekend - wherever you are.

  1. I am sitting in my garden while commenting to you and its hard to believe after this awful winter that this is possible. Your crocus shot made me smile as I have just taken the same image after screaming out not to step on it! I have 5 daisies too so very excited now. Your cotton are amazing colours and can't wait to see what you do with it. Enjoy the rest of this gorgeous weekend x

  2. That crocus - beautiful photo! I have lots here too, and sweet little tete-a-tete narcissus, just outside the door and so cheering! The box of Anchor Pearl Cottons takes me back to school days and the first thing I think I ever sewed - a felt collage of a cat lying on a rug in front of a fire. Little did I know then where I would be led by those first stitches! Looking forward to your reveal...

  6. Aren't the colors of perle cotton vividly lovely? You've received a wonderful gift, and it will be so much fun to see how your deploy these threads.

Still crossing our fingers over here in NYC that we won't see any more 2014 snow or ice. Today's above freezing sunny sky was a real gift.

    Cheers!

  15. We've got spring sunshine here too but our neighbour was scraping the ice off his windscreen before he left for work this morning. Feels like a stay-indoors-and-sew kind of day to me. Can't wait to see what you're making with the perlé. :o)
